Survival and hazards
Oxygen, healing, mimic deposits, dangerous wildlife, mining reactions and environmental damage in version 0.17.
Oxygen and the return route
Outside breathable air or an active oxygen source, the tank loses 0.32 units per second. A basic 100-unit tank lasts about 5 minutes 12 seconds. Refill zones restore 25 units per second; an empty tank costs 8 HP per second. The oxygen module adds 50 units to any backpack. Plan your return before entering a cave or crossing a new world.

Healing and protection
Med-Gel restores up to 40 HP. Use U manually; the suit also injects it when health crosses below 50%. Both uses share a 30-second cooldown. Picking up gel while already below the threshold does not trigger it. Equipped chitin lining reduces damage from projectiles, worms, toxic swarms, mimics and exotic mining reactions by 30%. It does not reduce attacks from the six new wildlife species, suffocation, falls, lava or toxin pools.
Mimic deposits
Some natural crystal or mushroom deposits pulse irregularly. Harvesting a mimic still gives its resource, but the explosion deals 15 HP within 3.2 m. Shooting it from outside the blast radius avoids that damage but destroys the resource. Watch the pulse before approaching; a growing bed is not a mimic deposit.
Creatures and hostile visitors
Movement and digging on open desert sand attract the sand worm; exposed rock provides refuge. Shoot while it emerges or retreats: underground it cannot be hit. Killing it drops three worm chitin. Toxic nests release swarms; damaging a surviving nest stage launches another wave. Green, orange and red swarm colours indicate calm, warning and attack. Check the fauna entries for local warning distances and peaceful sample collection. An NPC visitor can be a trader or a raider; reputation does not turn a raider friendly.

Mining reactions
Rapidly mining resonant shell or core four times can trigger a crystal pulse: after 1.4 seconds it deals 12 HP within 3 m. Three nearby hits into mycelium, fungal stems, caps or gills can release spores after 1.6 seconds: 3 HP per 0.8-second tick within 2.6 m, for 3.2 seconds. Move away during the warning instead of continuing to dig in place.

Lava, toxins and falls
Unprotected lava contact deals 200 HP per second, including shallow spills. Green toxin pools deal 5 HP per second. Chitin lining does not protect against either. The ship’s thermal module halves lava damage only inside that ship’s active oxygen radius; it does not grant immunity. Falls depend on landing speed and world gravity: descend in stages and keep an exit route. Med-Gel cannot make prolonged exposure safe.
